By GMCA. This month we celebrate one of the most important anniversaries’ in our community’s history. 31 years ago, ACT UP (AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power) staged its first major political action in the heart of New York by blocking rush hour traffic in front of the FDA’s wall street offices.

Founder Larry Kramer, along with hundreds of protesters were demanding action from the federal government to stop dragging its feet on the approval of new drugs that would benefit people living with HIV & AIDS. On that day these brave pioneers stood together and started a movement that would help save millions of lives over the course of the next three decades.
We commend and will be forever grateful for their heroic actions. Time and time again history has shown us that we're stronger when we stand together. We at the Gay Mens Counseling Alliance understand the unique, complex and sometimes difficult struggles that gay men in our community face. We want you to know that we are here to support, to listen and most importantly help you realize that you do not have to take this journey alone.

“Not only do you not have to go through your struggles alone; you're far more likely to succeed if we go through it together.” Jonathan Merker
